the bills, apparently, were in a “must-win” situation tonight (it’s a somewhat fair assessment with a 6-4 knot at the top of the afc east, but please, people, for the love of god can we stop using this phrase so much? it’s not applicable until elimination actually applies.) but you wouldn’t have known it from the first pity living quarters that trent edwards put up.three interceptions is really the only thing i be in want of to mention, right? it was that obliging of evening for two rookie quarterbacks in what started old-fashioned as an incredibly ugly game — and was that way auspices of the first half — but ended up being a pretty g-d exciting contest. both cleveland and buffalo, who suddenly account for two of the biggest 2008 flop-jobs (cleveland has disappointed all season and the bills are in a total pardon fall licence now) looked like they had no move in winning anything to save the first 30 minutes, but ended up sparring postponed in a back-and-forth of form all the rage football that involved a few brady quinn strikes, more beast mode than it was really fair to handle, and a pair of long, curve-affected interest goals, only one of which spiked the uprights.and it was a 55 yarder by phil dawson that basically sealed the strategy, even though rian lindell had a shot from 47 to heave the bills back ahead with just second to a minute to play. in fact, i might argue that dawson and marshawn were the but people — james harrison too, in point of fact — that played a honourable game.

Murray 5-5 Davydenko Davydenko has had some wobbly moments over the last week but looks strong as he keeps himself in the set with a solid service game.

Murray 5-4 Davydenko A fantastic effort from Murray, who holds to 15 with a lunging volley following a rather dodgy drop shot and he’s one game from taking the first set.

Murray 4-4 Davydenko Davydenko opens with two errors and then looks extremely edgy with a couple of second serves at 0-30, but Murray puts the return long and is fuming as he’s pegged back to 30-30. Davydenko comes through after a couple of deuces but Murray had a real go in that game - it will be interesting to see if he can recover for his next service game.

Murray 4-3 Davydenko Anything you can do…. Murray responds with his first love service game of the day, and these quick games will be doing him no end of good.

An already exhausted Murray falls 15-30 down and is then subjected to tennis torture - Davydenko stands in the middle of the court and sends Murray scurrying from side to side, backwards and forwards, brings him to the net, then lobs him. Murray runs back but can barely raise his racquet to swipe the ball into the net. Amazing stuff.

Just as amazing is the way Murray gets back from 15-40 to deuce, Davydenko gets a third break point but goes wide and the Scot eventually holds. He needs to get this over in straight sets if he’s to have any chance, surely.

Another election, another procrastination. I had the best intentions to finish evaluating all choices and popping that absentee ballot in the mail. No need to haul the whole family to the polling place. Well, between work and making a preschooler-sized Darth Maul Halloween costume, I didn’t quite get through the ballot.

I made up my mind on the big ticket candidates a long time ago, but the more obscure Propositions and Measures need a little more research. There are some that I think can’t possibly make sense to anyone. Once again, my husband and I will be comparing notes until the last day, when we’ll make the trek to the local high school. At least our three year old already has a good opinion of voting. “They give you stickers!”

Just wanted to drop this transcript from the FOX pregame show in which Pam Oliver sat down with Plaxico Burress in a Dr. Melfi type of conversation:

Oliver: Do any of these things accurately describe you? Immature?

Burress: I’ve made some mistakes and made some bad decisions, yes.

Oliver: Stubborn?

Burress: I go about things a little different than other people do, so yes.

Oliver: Hates authority?

Burress: No. My sensitivity is kind of my burden. I wear my emotions on my sleeve but I wouldn’t change that about me because it’s who I am. Could I do things better? Of course.

Oliver: Do you respect Tom Coughlin?

Burress: Yes.

Oliver: In the 49ers game, America saw a blatant act of disrespect. Did you apologize? Were you sorry?

Burress: To him personally, no. I guess (on being sorry) after everybody came up to me and was telling me how it came off . Could I have made a better decision or choice, just to go over there and sit down and just blow it off? Yeah, I could have but my emotions got the best of me at that moment.

Oliver: Do you make mistakes or do you make excuses?

Burress: I don’t make excuses at all. That’s the one thing that I’ve never done, I’ve never been ashamed of anything that I have done.
